Introduction
THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT IN THE ENVIRONMENTAL EMERGENCY MUST FROM DESIGN REDUCE THE FUTURE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT OF THE BUILT ARCHITECTURE.
The starting point of the subject is that the architecture project synthesizes technological, economic, social and environmental aspects (and their corresponding cultural implications) in order to guide the transformation of the environment in a symbiotic way between man and the environment.
"Architectural Project and Sustainability. Environmental assessment in the design process" is intended as a complement to the architectural project subjects of the last two ETSAB Architecture Degree courses, in order to incorporate into the building design process aspects such as ecological footprint, energy efficiency, reduction of non-renewable resources or the impact on users' health.
The methodology of the subject proposes an environmental assessment in the structured design phase in five areas: Energy, Materials, Water, Inner Ambient Quality and Adaptation to Climate Change.
The assessment allows a holistic understanding of the environmental impact of the architecture.
The design of the architectural project must therefore incorporate, in its process, the design of the reduction of future environmental impacts.
